As of today, Yeseo is officially accredited as a Living Wage Employer. Our commitment to the Living Wage means that everyone working at Yeseo will receive a minimum hourly wage of £10.90 in the UK, which is higher than the current government minimum for over 23s, which is £10.42.
Here at Yeseo, our employees are paid an hourly amount higher than the Living Wage, but we feel it is important to add our voice to a growing number of businesses that appreciate the importance of fairly paying their employees. We have done this by becoming officially accredited as a Living Wage employer.
Yeseo is based in Ipswich, in the East of England, a region where over 11% of jobs pay less than the real Living Wage – around 288,000 jobs. Despite this, Yeseo has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 450,000 people and put over £2 billion extra into the pockets of low-paid workers.

“We’re delighted that Yeseo has joined the movement of over 12,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.

These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Yeseo, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”
Metal RULES! This strongly held opinion may not reflect the tastes of everyone at Yeseo, but it’s certainly a core belief of our founder, Andrew Laws.
Music is an essential part of the lives of everyone at Yeseo; all team members are active, performing musicians. Almost all of our extended team of freelancers are also musicians. Between us we write and perform post-rock, folk, electronica, techno, ambient music, drum and bass, metal and many other genres.
We know that music is important to everyone, but here at Yeseo, it’s like, really, really, really important. Our office has a sound system made up of vintage separates and speaker stacks that are (if we’re honest) far too large for the room they are in.
So when we recently met the excellent humans behind the charity ‘Metal For Good’ we knew we wanted to support them in any way we could. Helping charities through Pro Bono work is an important part of our ESG policy, though we never dreamed we’d find a Metal-based charity to support!
Metal For Good takes everything great, positive, inclusive and supportive about metal and turns it up to 11. The charity offers grants to community groups and other organisations that use music to change lives. In their own words:
We believe that the rock and metal community is truly unique – we’re brought together through a love of great music and a sense of belonging. Through this shared identity, lives are often improved; we feel a part of something bigger, that we are accepted, and that someone has ultimately ‘got our back’.

This post will be slightly different from the Yeseo website’s others. We usually offer SEO advice or discuss the challenges we have helped our clients overcome. But for this article, I would like to write something personal.
I started my company in 2001; I was in my early twenties and had just left a job in London to set myself up as a freelancer. I chose the name ‘Web Care Takers’, and started to dislike the name almost immediately!
When anyone starts a new company, they climb a steep learning curve. The first lesson I learned was to choose the company name very carefully, which is why we put so much thought into naming ourselves Yeseo.
The second lesson I learned, in a very positive way, was the importance of referrals.
From the beginning, I knew that offering a personal, professional and passionate service was at the heart of everything we do. I have always wanted clients to stick with Yeseo because they get the results they need and because we are a pleasure to work with.
The fact that almost all of our clients have been collaborating with us for many years shows that we must be getting something right. In fact, as I go back through the company records, the clients who didn’t work with us for many years were often clients we worked with on specific projects, rather than on an ongoing basis.
So I think Yeseo is great. So what? I would say that, wouldn’t I? When I sat down to write this blog post, I wanted to find a way to show you what other people think of us.
I pasted the words from every review we have on Google into a word cloud generator. I figured this would give me an idea of what our clients like about working with Yeseo. Here’s the word cloud:
When I look at the list of words in the cloud, there are many that I would expect to see represented in the reviews of any beloved company.
But one phrase appears more often in our reviews – ‘Recommend’, closely followed by ‘always’ and ‘highly’. I don’t think I’m making a huge leap of faith if I claim that our clients ‘always highly recommend’ us to others.
Many of our clients at Yeseo are introduced to us by our existing clients. I started my own company because I wanted to democratise the power of SEO and share knowledge and enthusiasm with everyone we meet. The number of referrals we enjoy is a testament to the hard work and positive attitude of every member of the Yeseo team.
But this post isn’t about us patting ourselves on the back. This post is about thanking all the clients who have helped us grow by referring us to their networks, their friends, and in some cases, their families!

If It Ain’t Broke — You Can Still Fix It
Whatever the old saying might suggest, it doesn’t have to be broken before you fix it. Andrew Laws Associates certainly wasn’t broken, but we did feel the image coming over wasn’t quite what we wanted.
You see, it sounds a bit corporate, doesn’t it? In fact, due to my surname, we’ve even once or twice been mistaken for a solicitors firm. That’s absolutely not the way we wanted people to picture the fun, people-centred SEO provider that is Yeseo.
There was another problem — one of those you don’t even think of when you’re in the planning stage. It wasn’t till a customer pointed it out that I realised we were appearing in truncated form on bank statements as “Andrew Laws Ass”.
Oops.
So How Have We Fixed It?
So now we’re Yeseo — the SEO agency with added Yes. Perhaps you don’t think of SEO as a fun activity. It’s just a load of boring geeks fiddling around with obscure details behind the scenes, yes?
Well, yes, we are geeks, I suppose, but not the boring kind. And yes, we do fiddle around with obscure details behind your website, but those are just the tools we use. At Yeseo, we see SEO as being all about people. How you come over to your audience as people. How the people who make up your audience see you. How our people relate to your people.
Because we’re people first and geeks second. That’s why the new Yeseo website has people all over it. OK, they’re not exactly accurate likenesses of the people you’ll be working with, because we’re not really cartoons. At least, I don’t think any of us are. But, from the friendly getting-to-know-you to designing a unique SEO journey for you, the Yeseo experience is completely personal.
The good news is — not at all, apart from our constant desire to improve. Our rebranding isn’t about a change of direction, but about aligning our image with how we’ve always gone about supplying our services.
We start off by thoroughly getting to know you and your business and identifying what you really need from SEO. We’re keenly aware that what you need won’t necessarily be what any other business does — not even a very similar business.
Needless to say, our ultimate aim is to get you the best possible ROI, but we do that in a friendly, accessible way, with no hand-waving or technical gobbledygook. SEO is essentially a combination of expertise and hard work, and we specialise in both at Yeseo.
